You can transform your life and thrive, not just survive
I’m Ruth and am a fully qualified psychotherapist working with young people and adults from all walks of life and I offer short or long term therapy tailored to your needs.
Are you going through a difficult season in life right now?
Perhaps you are experiencing problems in your relationships, anxiety or panic attacks, low mood, depression or Covid overwhelm. You might be struggling at work or have low self esteem, lack self confidence or be grieving the loss of a relationship or a loved one. Quite often these difficulties stem from past experience – you might have suffered a previous trauma such as bullying, abuse or parental separation. You might have a long-term physical health condition, and I am very aware of how these aspects interweave and impact on the person and our relationships.

My clients come to me with many different issues including anxiety, loneliness anxiety, depression, sexual intimacy and relationship problems. Most people I meet have been trying to deal with these issues and have become stuck, unable to find a way through and are looking for a different way of managing their emotions.
I help my clients by providing a supportive space in which we discover new perspectives on their problems and develop effective strategies to overcome them.
This has helped my clients gain a richer understanding of themselves and what they want from life, enabling them to create a more meaningful and fulfilling future.
How I work
My approach is to explore the root causes of issues in the context of a supportive therapeutic relationship. I offer a welcoming, safe, confidential and non-judgemental space where you will be met with respect and acceptance. A place for you to explore the thought patterns, feelings and beliefs that you may be struggling with that are stopping you from moving forward. I tailor every treatment to meet your needs and expectations.
Fees:
£65 per therapy hour (individual rate)
£85 per therapy hour (couples rate)
Discounted fees are available for NHS workers and low income families. Please contact me for further details.

I work with clients to help them really understand why they are thinking, feeling and behaving in the way they are. Past and present events and experiences influence how we feel about and therefore treat ourselves which then impacts on all relationships in our lives. By understanding where these thoughts come from and why you may have such huge emotional and physical reactions or equally such suppressed feelings you can change the way you behave towards yourself and others. I would like to help you make the changes you need so that you can lead a healthy, happy and fulfilling life.
I place a lot of emphasis on building a good relationship between the client and therapist as this provides the solid and supportive foundation upon which change and personal growth can be achieved. I will work with you to create a trusting and safe environment where you can talk, think and feel freely while being really listened to and valued; a space just for you.
I encourage open-ended therapy for the most opportunity for change, growth, and support but I am also happy to offer time-limited/short-term therapy if that is what might suit you better.
Taking the first step on a healing journey can be challenging but finding the right therapist that you can trust and feel comfortable with can make all the difference in helping you move forward and feel safe and supported in exploring the issues you want to work with.
